With temperatures reaching the high thirties in the summer months and mid twenties in winter months, Fuerteventura is a well-liked summer and winter holiday destination.
Sister islands including Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote have always been popular, however with the recent growth and development of Fuerteventura with a water park now based in the North and several shopping centres in other resorts, the island is now just as popular.
Boasting over a hundred and fifty beaches, wetter fuerteventura is a must for beach lovers. The annual wind surfing competitions are located in the South and what ever type of water sports you are into can be located in either Corralejo, Costa Caleta and Morro Jable.
Couples and families love going to Fuerteventura and the holiday resort of Caleta de Fuste was designed with children in mind. The man made beach is a safe spot for children to play while adults take it easy on the beach and there are many activities like trampolines, archery, tennis, mini golf, play parks and a sand school to keep them amused.
Corralejo in the North, has a new water park and amusement park and again an abundance of children’s parks and activities.
Dining places serving food from around the world are available in both resorts, however a drive inland will provide among the better restaurants on the island offering traditional Canarian cuisine at very low prices.
The roads of Fuerteventura are reasonably quiet, and the resident goats can be found wandering the wasteland and inland roads so drive carefully!
Fuerteventura has some fantastic scenery and although still much less built up as the other Canary Islands, makes a great holiday place to go for both couples and families.
