Do you have problems with children climbing all over your furniture, scuffing the fabric and scratching the woodwork? It’s not very practical for you if they cannot play and get rid of some of that youthful energy.
Children are going to run into, play on and climb over just about anything in the room especially when it is wet and cold outside and the neighborhood children have all decided to onload at your house.
It’s a good thing that your children are so popular but it can play havoc on your furnishings, not to mention your stress level as they chase each other over the back of the sofa. So how do you prevent children destroying the living room suite? Is there any alternative?
Beanbag furniture, popular kids furniture, is the answer. A child’s beanbag chair is a great way to keep the children off your furnishings. Children love beanbag chairs because they’re great fun to scramble over when they are full of energy and a child’s beanbag chair is comfortable to flop down on and stretch out when the energy is finally sapped away.
Why not buy one for yourself so you can crash out too. Chances are that you will be worn out before they are.
No matter how rough the children get in their play, beanbag chairs will withstand anything your kid can throw at it – literally. Beanbag chairs come in denim, cotton drill or with the look of worn leather, which is great for the den. However, if you are looking for something to go in your kid’s room, vinyl is probably the better option.
If you are interested in baby furniture such as beanbag chairs for their nursery, you can choose from superheroes, dolls or other fun cartoon characters that will liven up their rooms. Whether it is in their own room or in the den, kids will prefer their own beanbag chair.
There are so many different nursery decor ideas to consider when beginning your baby’s nursery. Let’s focus here on your wall treatment and decoration. I am not a fan of wallpaper and would instead suggest various paint techniques.
1. Words, Words, Words. There are many fantastic quotes and printed words to apply directly to the nursery’s walls. If you are feeling thrifty and adventurous, use a transparent sheet to print your favorite inspiring quote or word collection. Simply select your favorite font, then using a projector – simply display your quote on the wall, ready to trace and paint!
2. Family Wall. Paint walls your favorite soothing color and then create an entire wall of various family members. Select photo frames that offer either a uniform look (i.e. all black square, all silver, all gold, etc.) or select a varied and quirky collection of frames. Put photos of family members and dear friends inside and arrange photos in a collage format on the wall. Whenever your kid spends time in his/her room, they will be surrounded by the faces of those that love them the most!
3. Bold is beautiful. Whether you select bright paint or muted paint, see your painting options at a different angle. Start at the bottom corner of one wall and paint a solid color in a diagonal line up to the opposite corner, near the ceiling. Create diagonal lines throughout the nursery.
4. Stripes without the fuss. Select your paint color and buy half of the required paint in a high gloss finish, the other half in a flat finish. Using painter’s tape, mark off your stripes (in the width you prefer). Starting with the flat finish paint, create an every-other stripe pattern. When dry, remove tape and repeat process with the high gloss paint, finishing all stripes. What a simple, fast and easy way to create a striped illusion without confusing too many colors in the nursery!

There are many things to consider when deciding whether or not to breastfeed. First the most important thing to do is your research on the benefits of breastfeeding. Next it is important to talk to your doctor about it. The thing about breast milk is that it has ideal nutrition. It has the right amount of fat, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals. These are important things that your baby needs for growth, digestion, and brain development. Everyday there is more and more research being done that finds more and more benefits of breastfeeding. It contains antibodies that helps your baby’s immune system fight off illnesses. Breast fed babies have fewer colds, ear infections, urine infections, as well as less likely to have allergies, skin conditions and asthma. There is even an advantage of breastfeeding when you child becomes an adult. They will have a lowered risk of heart attack, stroke, obesity and diabetes. Breast milk is also much easier for your baby to digest. Your baby will spit up less, have less gas, constipation and diarrhea.
One benefit for the mom is that breastfeeding helps your uterus get back to its pre-pregnant size more quickly. Oxytocin is a hormone that makes your uterus contract and your baby’s sucking can trigger the release of this hormone. Breastfeeding also delays the return of your period. Another huge benefit of breastfeeding is that it has been linked to reduce the risk of breast cancer.
While some people think that housing, government, politics, entertainment, mortgages, banking, philosophy, and religion are among the most interesting subjects of intellectual discussion I believe that the care and education we have about our children and the birth and development of our children, may rank even higher. Many women love breastfeeding for other reasons as well. Whenever and wherever you are you can feed your child on the spot. There are no bottles to fill and to warm up. Baby beanies haven’t been around which much because of the fact that they were “born” only in 1994 when Ty Warner introduced the first baby beanies in the market. Not countless human beings understand which a baby beanie or more officially known as beanie baby were first created by him. He created the baby beanie to be more lifelike by giving it more air. In other words, there was less stuffing inside each baby beanie. The standard baby toys were stuffed to the hilt and they were stiff. While Ty’s beanie baby was half filled with stuffing and half filled with beans. Hence the name beanie baby. Other competitors sneered and said which his toys could not last long. After all it’s not like they could be in demand always like cheap wedding favors. But exactly the opposite is what happened!
Now, the “original nine” as they are officially referred to are the first nine baby beanies Ty Warner created. These are the Spot the dog, Squealer the pig, Patti the platypus, Cubbie the bear, Chocolate the moose, Pinchers the lobster, Splash the killer whale, Legs the frog and Flash the dolphin. Collectors have dubbed them as such because of the fact that these where the first baby beanies available which were selling at less than $5.00 each. They didn’t come with music like the smooth sounds of Aslyn but they did come with a short poem to introduce it to the toddler. This was written on a red heart-shaped tag which is attached by the animal’s ear.
Not much is known how countless baby beanies are totally in life because of the fact that there are lines developed which create a family of baby beanies. The most legendary is the teddy-bear baby beanie which was created. The simple pattern was just re-used and variety of|a range of|an assortment of|a mixture of|different|diverse|numerous|a number of|several} colors were utilized to create a family. Various ofA number of names were given to each teddy bear in keeping with the custom of having a name. When we fish and farm seafood for human consumption, there are often overlooked environmental consequences. Some methods of both fishing and seafood farming are more sustainable than others, depending on the type of animal involved, the tools used and the location. Along with waste and chemical accumulation in water sources, overfishing and the destruction of natural habitats by the fishing industry are significant threats to aquatic ecosystems. Choosing sustainable seafood is as important to these ecosystems and to our health as choosing other sustainable products, such as reusable organic cotton bags and milder household cleaners.
The first thing I’d like to talk about is the harm that fishing does to natural habitats. When using methods that catch a large amount of seafood, such as nets or cages, animals that are caught that are too small or unmarketable are discarded and left to die. This results in quite a bit of waste every year. This process is known as Bycatch. Since cages and nets can’t be selective about what types of sealife they catch, numerous unwanted species end up in them. This can lead to the unintentional catching of marine life such as dolphins, sea turtles and seals. There are environmentally safe ways of fishing for seafood that have a minimal impact on the habitats of marine life. These methods include harpooning, small traps and hook and line fishing. A seafood guide that has been produced by the Seafood Watch program recommends environmentally safe ways in which to fish for seafood.
Another concern that fishing raises is that of overfishing. Overfishing happens when certain species of fish are captured faster than they can reproduce, meaning their population numbers continually dwindle. Species like the Atlantic Cod, West Coase Rockfish, Bluefin Tuna, and certain types of sharks have all suffered from overfishing in the past. Species like the Chilean Seabass reproduce at a much slower rate than others, so overfishing is a very real possibility that must be monitored. As a consumer, you can voice your opinion and help preserve their populations by not purchasing these kinds of fish.
On the slightly milder side, farming things like oysters, mussels, and other shellfish has a relatively mild environmental impact compared with salmon and shrimp farming, which can endanger wild fish populations when their feedstocks are produced. When fish such as salmon are farmed at unnaturally high rates in ocean cages, they create unhealthy amounts of waste and disease that can affect surrounding wild populations. Fish farming can take place in more sustainable systems, such as in separate tanks that continually recycle water, known as recirculating aquaculture systems.
The Seafood Watch Program recommends ways to fish that will not endanger species of fish or their habitats. The program also advises that when choosing farmed fish to chose seafood that has not been fed an excess of wild fish, and whose waste and disease management plans are in place so that no threat is posed on habitats. To prevent contamination on our waterways it is recommended that reusable bags are used in place of plastic bags that are very dangerous to waterways and the sea life who inhabit those waterways.
These days, we’re always hearing about the possibility of a major flu pandemic of one kind or another, particularly the swine flu. We’re likely to be particularly concerned if we’re mums who have young children, and from doing everything we can to keep them from getting sick.
Without a doubt, this is certainly easier said than done! For working mums, the thought of being involved in some way in this pandemic is all we need, right now, as if there isn’t enough to worry about on a daily basis!
One of the main drawbacks of being a mother that works is the fact that for the most part our schedule doesn’t have much flexibility. We have to continuously balance so many things to ensure that we fulfil all of our working commitments while ensuring our children are well taken care of too. When we hear the (often much exaggerated) horror stories about swine flu, this only serves to add another thing to worry about on an often already long list of worries.

Swine flu, or H1N1, has been called a global pandemic due to the expected number of human to human transmission cases. It’s simply too complex for us to have any idea how it could effect us individually or collectively, and how it might impact the systems, processes, and essential networks that we usually rely on. Therefore, working mums really should try to focus on what they can do to plan for the worst within these unknown parameters.
It goes without saying that the first thing to do is look at how you can make sure that each member of the family is as healthy as possible. This means keeping up with physical activity, working out, trying to manage stress, eating well, remaining hydrated and getting an optimum amount of sleep. This goes for all members of the family – which includes you! Schedules should be adjusted and habits modified. No longer is it okay to let any of these slide as we need to be as healthy as possible to stave off infection.
We may have to practise a certain amount of “social distancing,” if the swine flu spreads rapidly or mutates. This generally means good hygiene, washing your hands often, using a good hand sanitizers and as difficult as it may seem, try to get yourself and your family out of any habits such as touching your face.
Schools are of course particularly vulnerable and the swine flu is likely to spread quickly in places where children are present. Should schools be closed, you will need to be prepared for the eventuality. This will mean looking into emergency day-care, help from family or friends.
You will need to take a good look at your work situation and see if it would be possible for you to do some of it from home if needed. If your children need nursing then you cannot realistically expect a sitter to be able to this and you should be there anyway to pay close attention to their recovery.
Without going overboard, make sure that you stock up on non-perishable food and other necessities. For example, keep a stock of ready meals in your freezer if you have one. If you are in the UK, I recommend “Cook” foods, which you can order online. All their ready meals are hand cooked with no artificial ingredients. They’re not cheap, but I can vouch for them being delicious and it’s handy to have a selection in. Imagine feeling really poorly but still having to cook meals for you and your family…not conducive to you getting better! You will be grateful of a meal that you can just throw the oven or microwave and still be sure you and your family are eating healthy and nutritious meals!
As a working mum, check to see what your company’s policies and procedures are regarding a potential major outbreak of swine flu. Hopefully your company will be flexible and sympathetic. When Nick and Anna’s baby son was born they wanted to share the good news with all their friends and family. As their loved ones were scattered all throughout the world they wanted to find a great way to introduce their new little one to everybody. They knew they wanted to send out birth announcements as soon as possible but with the arrival of their baby they found themselves a bit tight on cash. They thought about their options. They considered doing their own notices but quickly realized they didn’t have the time to undertake such a project, as they wanted and needed to spend as much possible time with their little son. They thought about e-mailing their friends and family but realized that some of their relatives didn’t have internet or computers. The more they thought about it the more important it became to have something to beautifully commemorate the arrival of their child. They not only wanted something to send to family and friends, but something to feature in their little boys scrapbook too.
